Newton United Soccer Spring 2021 Covid 19 Protocols Recreation and Travel Updated 5/16/2001

Game Day Protocol

All athletes and families are encouraged to wash hands and use sanitizer before attending games and practices.

Pursuant to Executive Order 241, individuals in outdoor public settings are no longer required to wear masks, regardless of their ability to maintain six feet of distance from other individuals or groups, and regardless of their vaccination status.  Therefore, effective immediately, Newton United will no longer require spectators, coaches, officials, and all participants involved in outdoor events to wear masks.  However, Newton United still encourages the wearing of masks when social distancing is not possible and that all players coaches and spectators abide by other town wishes when playing away games. Wearing of masks is optional. Please remember that some may still wish to continue to wear a mask , this is their choice and must be respected.

All game day protocols will apply to practice. Athletes, coaches, staff and others participating in practices will be screened, via temperature check, at the beginning of each session. Players, coaches, staff, and volunteers showing symptoms of COVID-19 shall not be permitted to participate.

Please remember that if you do not feel well stay home and let your coach know. Do not come to practice or games if you are feeling unwell. If anyone, be they player spectator or coach tests positive to covid 19 please let your coach know as soon as possible.

The most recent update from NJYS

As the Fall 2021 outdoor season is upon us, New Jersey Youth Soccer would like to remind all members, coaches and players regarding Return To Play as it pertains to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On May 28, 2021, Governor Murphy followed guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health to remove all restrictions regarding COVID-19 and Return to Play activities.

It is important to note that there may be changes in the number of cases and hospitalizations from COVID-19 as we enter the fall and winter months. NJYS continues to encourage everyone involved in youth soccer to be vigilant in practicing the common sense health activities that reduce the risk of transmitting all infectious diseases, including coronavirus.

The CDC and the Governor’s Office encourages everyone to get vaccinated, especially those who are medically compromised.

Other health activities to reduce the risk of disease include:

  • Washing your hands thoroughly and frequently.
  • Covering coughs and sneezes.
  • Staying home if you are feeling ill. Wearing masks when appropriate and
  • Maintaining social distancing among all participants while at our soccer fields.

Although masks are not required outdoors, those who feel comfortable wearing them should feel free to do so.

As you know, the COVID-19 response will continue to evolve and information is expected to change quickly. NJ Youth Soccer will continue to follow the guidance from state and health officials and communicate these changes in a timely manner.

We understand the challenge this may pose for parents and, nonetheless, urge us all to adhere to these parameters that currently provide an opportunity for players to train and compete during this difficult time.

Thank you for your continued support of youth soccer.
