NEWTON UNITED SOCCER

Registration for the Spring 2020 Season has been suspended due to the current Corona Virus Pandemic. The Spring 2020 season has not officially been called off and we appreciate your patience with us at this time.

Registration For The Spring 2020 Recreation Season Is Now Open.

Registration for the Spring season is now open and will close on April 5th 2020. All elementary and middle school aged children from Newton Green and Andover are eligible to play. The cost to register is $70 per player and is reduced to $35 per child for multiple children in a family, this discount applies only to the Recreation programs listed on this page.

Every effort will be made to keep current teams together from the Fall but may not always be possible. This is particularly true in the Fall as age groupings change and children fall into different groups. Please make any coach and or team mate request during the registration process. In order to keep our teams as manageable as possible we ask that you do please sign up during the registration process. Late registrations will only be granted for players who can be accommodated based on team size and need. Typically the Spring season starts approximately 8 weeks before  the end of the school year. Coaches will be in contact with their teams once they are assigned following the registration process. Uniforms are provided in the fall and are to be used in the spring  as well , only players who did not play in the fall will receive a uniform in the spring.

All Newton United coaches are volunteers and we rely on these coaches to keep us running. We are always looking for new volunteers to help out. This is particularly true in the U8 and U10 age groups where we have our largest numbers of players. The more coaches we have the more teams we can form. Please consider this option as you register your child.

About Teams

Teams with game-aged players participate in the Sussex County Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA) and play 8 game seasons on Saturdays. All teams are Co-Ed. These are recreational teams only , we do not allow travel players to participate on these teams , this a rule that is adhered to throughout the league. Any travel players found on a recreation team will be removed from the team without refund.

Instructional Program U6

Our U6 players will continue to participate in an instructional program. Through skill-oriented games and small-sided scrimmages each week, our youngest players will learn and thrive in a fun environment. This instructional program meets on Saturday mornings for 7 weeks and there will still be the option to choose either a Newton  or Andover location for this program. For logistical reasons There will no longer be a session at Evergreen Park in Green .There will now be back to back sessions at the Borough Field in Andover. Jerseys are provided with registration and will be used for  2 seasons , only players who did not participate in the Fall will receive a Jersey in the spring

Parental involvement is highly encouraged. Volunteers are always being sought to help, particularly at this key time in children’s development. Our trainer will also be working with new volunteers who desire to build their knowledge and ability to lead children in this great game, so they can hopefully continue on as their child develops beyond the pre-K/K program. No experience is necessary, just a desire to help children grow in this new experience and enjoy themselves! We highly encourage you to consider signing up to volunteer during the registration process, as your services will certainly be of great help in making the participating children’s experience the best one possible.
Tentative start date for this program is Saturday April 25th
The Saturday schedule for this Program will be
Newton Pine Street park 9 Am
Andover Boro Field 10:15 Am
Andover Boro Field 11:15 AM

Changes to Recreational Soccer programs
There has been a reorganization in US Youth Soccer and in turn New jersey Youth Soccer which Newton United is a member of. As you have already seen this past 3 years Field sizes in all age groups have changed along with the number of players on the field. This has brought us into line with with National Youth soccer standards as mandated by US Soccer. This Fall we will continue to implement mandated changes to the age grouping of our teams by using the birth year formula. We will still be grouping our children into 2 year age groups but the cut offs will no longer be based on school grade , but by birth year. Under no circumstances are children allowed to play down in age group. Children may play up in age in some situations. If your child is close to the cut off for our instructional program please contact the club as we may be able to get your child in to one of our programs.
